Duration - 230 minutes
Exam format - A combination of multiple-choice, multiple responses, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blanks.
The Project Management Professional (PMP) exam now includes two 10-minute breaks. These are scheduled after completing the 60th and 120th questions, allowing you to review your answers before each break. However, once you've reviewed your responses and started your break, you won't be able to return to the questions from that section.

There is an optional tutorial before the exam starts. After the exam, an optional survey lasts between 5 and 15 minutes. The time spent on these activities does not affect the 230 minutes allocated for completing the exam.

Yes. The course includes 1-year PMI membership, giving you access to relevant member resources and benefits during your preparation.
Key resources for PMP preparation include the PMBOK Guide and the PMI Exam Content Outline.
The PMBOK Guide explains recognised project management principles and practices. The Exam Content Outline shows the domains, tasks and areas assessed.
Your included resources are aligned with the latest course and exam requirements. You may also choose to use PMI Study Hall as an optional study tool.
Check what is included in your e-Careers package before purchasing anything extra.
A practical PMP certification study plan should reflect your experience, work commitments and planned exam date.
Review the current Exam Content Outline and identify the main domains.
Map the course modules against the areas you need to revise.
Set a realistic weekly study schedule.
Complete practice questions after each topic.
Track your results and spend more time on weaker areas.
Schedule full-length practice tests before the official exam.
Adjust the plan as your confidence and scores improve.
A common independent-study benchmark is six to 12 weeks, with around 120 to 180 hours of total preparation.
An eight- to 12-week plan may suit someone studying alongside full-time work. A shorter two- to six-week revision period may suit a learner with recent, relevant experience.
These are planning guides rather than fixed PMI or e-Careers requirements. Your final study plan should suit your learning style, existing knowledge and personal experience.
PMP examination preparation combines course learning, the PMBOK Guide, the Exam Content Outline and realistic question practice.
It helps you understand why a response is appropriate in a given situation rather than only memorising definitions.
A structured approach may include:
Reviewing class notes
Revisiting difficult topics
Completing timed questions
Tracking your progress
Revising areas where your scores are lower
This helps you build judgement as well as knowledge.
Yes. Full-length practice tests help you become familiar with the 180-question format, build mental endurance and identify weaker areas.
Where your schedule allows, aim to take at least three full-length practice tests before the official exam.
Review each result carefully. Consistent scores across several tests can provide a more useful indication of readiness than one strong result.
Practice results are not a guarantee of passing. They should guide your revision and help you become more comfortable with exam conditions.
A study group can reinforce learning by giving you a place to discuss difficult scenarios, compare reasoning and stay accountable to your schedule.
Choose a group that uses current PMI-aligned resources. Group discussion should support your preparation rather than replace individual revision or practice.
Preparation time varies according to your experience, knowledge, availability and confidence with the syllabus.
Many learners plan six to 12 weeks of study and may spend about 120 to 180 hours preparing in total. However, this is not an official requirement.
Choose a realistic timeline that gives you enough time to:
Review the three domains
Complete practice questions
Take full-length practice tests
Revisit weaker topics
Prepare for the exam format
Yes. The current exam assesses predictive, agile and hybrid ways of working.
Predictive scenarios may reflect Waterfall-style planning. Agile scenarios may draw on ideas associated with Scrum or Kanban.
The exam focuses on selecting a suitable response for the situation rather than recalling one method in isolation.
A Project Management Professional applies leadership, delivery and strategic knowledge to guide projects towards agreed outcomes.
The role may involve leading teams, managing resources, working with stakeholders, responding to risk and aligning delivery with business needs.
Searches for project management professional pmp usually refer to the full certification title and its recognised abbreviation.
PMI stands for Project Management Institute.
The wording project management institute pmi combines the organisation's full name with its standard abbreviation.
PMI administers the certification, sets its eligibility requirements and publishes the resources used to guide exam preparation.
The exam assesses whether you can make sound project decisions across People, Process and Business Environment scenarios.
It covers predictive, agile and hybrid approaches and places a strong emphasis on practical judgement.
The exam covers three connected domains:
People (33%) – Leading teams, working with stakeholders and applying interpersonal skills
Process (41%) – Planning, delivering, monitoring and controlling project work
Business Environment (26%) – Linking projects with strategy, governance, compliance and value
Together, these domains test whether you can balance leadership, delivery and business needs when making project decisions.
The exam is challenging because it tests applied judgement across realistic situations.
You need to connect leadership, delivery and business considerations while managing your time. Live teaching, structured revision and regular practice can help you approach it with greater confidence.
PMP certification supports continued professional development.
To maintain the credential, you must meet PMI's renewal requirements, including earning the required professional development units within each certification cycle.
Yes. You can normally take the exam through secure online proctoring or at an approved test centre, subject to availability and PMI's delivery requirements.
You receive five days of live trainer-led learning, official PMI-aligned resources, tutor support, a PMP exam voucher and 1-year PMI membership.
